About Rooral Coliving
Welcome to Rooral!
A way to stay rooted while working remotely. We are now located in the south of Spain, in a charming white village called Benarrabá, in Málaga. The Rooral experience is emphasized on connecting with yourself, the community, and the ecosystem (including the local community, village, and nature).
About the owners
Hola, I’m Juan. I grew up with the narrative that success is in big cities.
This took me to live in San Francisco, Paris and Bangkok. But one unexpected trip changed everything.
My grandma Ángeles passed away, and I returned to say bye to her Spanish tiny village. Strangers welcomed us with hugs and turned our sadness into celebration.
That moment I realized greatest lessons of humanity don’t come from skyscrapers. But from the heart of our villages.
Sadly, half of Spain’s villages are dying. Meanwhile, our cities are full of stress and loneliness. This imbalance threatens our well-being and future.
But one key thing has changed. Remote work is now possible for many.
What if we use this chance to bring life back to our villages?

- How do I do groceries?
- There are several local grocery shops and a tiny supermarket. If you prefer a larger supermarket, you can find one in the nearest town, Ronda, which is 35km away. You can reach it by bus, rent the Rooral Van, or use your own car.
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- The coworking is always available.
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?

- How do I get there?
- By car or Taxi the last part Train nearby towns Flight to Malaga Distances & times from Benarrabá to: - Ronda: 49mins / 40kms - Estepona: 50 mins / 45 kms - Marbella: 1h / 75 kms - Málaga: 1h 50mins / 130 kms - Sevilla: 2h 35mins / 160 kms - Madrid: 6h 30mins / 587 kms 🚙 Renting a car The closest location to rent a car is Estepona or Ronda (50 mins away), where you will find multiple suppliers. 🚄 🚌 By public transport From Madrid - Best option is to take a 4hours train from Madrid to Ronda, and from Ronda you have 2 daily buses to Benarrabá or take a taxi. From Benarrabá to Ronda the bus leaves around 7:45am from the village entry (we recommend to be 10 mins before just in case). - Second option is to take the high speed train to Málaga. Takes 2h 30 mins, depending on the train. From Málaga, take the bus (duration of 2 hours, every 1-2 hours) or BlaBlaCar (duration 1h) to Ronda.

- Why did you decide to open?
- We are not from the rural world. But we have realized that we need it more than ever. We want to stop chasing what we lack, and enjoy what we have. Villages teach us to find BALANCE BETWEEN DOING & BEING. The rural world teaches us to find the important things in life. To connect with what is natural and local, to use our hands to create life, to leave the door open, to call the neighbours and to celebrate in community. For generations we have been told that to be somebody you had to leave the village. Perhaps to be you, you have to go back.
- How do you manage the community?
- Juan and Cat are always in Benarrabá when we are receiving hosts, taking care of every detail to ensure that everybody has a pleasant experience. They also organize regular activities based on the preferences of the guests.
