About iSlow Coliving

iSlow Coliving is a rural coliving space for digital nomads and slow travelers. It offers a slow way of co-living, coworking and exploring in community. The heart of life at iSlow is centred around its traditional stone house, built around the year 1915.

About the owners

The hosts of this coliving
We are Inés, Julio, Lois and Amelie, a family with Celtic roots. In 2020, we returned from United Kingdom where we lived for just over 10 years. We liked and enjoyed living abroad, but at the same time were filled with ideas for the “old house” we had waiting for us back home. Several years passed with us mulling all of these ideas, until one day we felt the call to return home, and we arrived back in Galicia with our heads full of plans. We wanted our children to grow up in contact with nature, be close to the people we love and live in a community. But also to create our own network and start a project that helped meet the needs of our environment. To be an open door to a work style in which digitisation allows mobility and where digital nomads create a life based around sustainable and quality initiatives. This is how iSlow was born, a space to create connections while discovering the beauty of the Costa da Morte first hand.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Just ask for it

How do I do groceries?
We offer a few items that can be consumed at breakfast or anytime of the day such as coffee, tea, cow and oat milk, bread, jam, and butter and some seasonal fruit. Also, spices, dressings, and other cooking basics are also included in your stay. We do organise family dinners, lunches and now and then we host a BBQ, brunch or shared meal. The communal kitchen is fully equipped and can be used by everyone. Ten minutes walk from iSlow Coliving you’ll find a big supermarket, shops, and restaurants.
What are the coworking opening hours?
Coworking can be accessed any time of the day
What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
We love pets, but we are still navigating our way through coliving with them in our space. Because we host families, we like to be cautious with regards to coliving with pets and young children. If you are interested in joining with your pet, please get in contact before booking, and we will explore your particular case.
How do I get there?
First of all, it’s good to know, that when it comes to public transport, Google Maps will not show up all the routes to get to us from the main airports. By plane, the nearest airports are Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña. Both connected to main cities in Europe and Spain. Here you can see the airports from which you can fly directly to Santiago de Compostela. Here you can see the airports from which you can fly directly to A Coruña. By bus, either from Santiago airport or A Coruña airport. In this site you can find all the routes to either Laxe or nearby towns like Baio. Just make sure you do not select direct buses only to get more options, as most connections are just stops of a few minutes. By taxi, You can contact Martina or Raquel through WhatsApp to be picked up or to go to the following places. Santiago airport – iSlow 95€ A Coruña – iSlow 95 € Carballo – iSlow 45 €
What is included?
Access to the coworking, parking and all facilities including the kitchen and laundry room. Food items listed above.
Why did you decide to open?
We're locals. Julio and I grew up in Galicia, and Laxe has always been home. We watched the Costa da Morte lose people — young families leaving, villages quieting down, a landscape of extraordinary beauty that the world barely knew existed. We didn't want to just witness that. iSlow started from a simple conviction: that this place has everything people are searching for — nature, silence, authenticity, community — and that the right kind of visitor doesn't just pass through, they transform. And sometimes they stay. We're not outsiders who discovered a hidden gem. We're locals who decided to open the door and invite people in. That means we know the fisherman, the baker, every hidden trail. It means when you stay at iSlow you're not getting a curated rural experience — you're getting the real thing, through people who genuinely belong here.
How do you manage the community?
Community at iSlow happens naturally — we don't over-programme it. Julio and I are not just managers, we're hosts in the truest sense. We share meals, we know our guests by name, and we create the conditions for connection without forcing it. In practice this means a shared kitchen where dinners happen organically, a common space that invites conversation, and a WhatsApp group where guests coordinate spontaneously. We organise occasional activities — walks along the Costa da Morte, local gastronomy experiences, surf sessions — but always optional, never mandatory. We're selective about who joins. iSlow works best for people who want genuine slow living, not just a desk and a bed. That shared intention is what makes the community self-managing in many ways — the right guests find each other.
