Originally built in 1630, the house has a storied past. It once belonged to the monks of the Carboeiro Monastery, serving as a collection and storage point for tithes and as a customs house for travelers heading to the Monastery of San Esteban de Carboeiro. This historic connection endures, with an ancient medieval Roman road still passing through the surrounding forest and crossing the river.
The house underwent a remarkable transformation in the 1990s under the visionary guidance of Isabel Aguirre, one of Galicia's most celebrated landscape architects and restoration experts. Her work on the property in 1993 was a testament to her commitment to preserving history while breathing new life into it. With meticulous attention to detail, Aguirre used noble materials such as stone and wood to maintain the house’s original character and timeless charm.

- In the small town of Merza, 1.5 km from the house, there is a small supermarket that also delivers by van stopping next to the house.

- Pets Friendly. There are not restrictions of extra frees.
- How do I get there?
- If you come by plane or by car, from Santiago de Compostela there is a bus to Vila de Cruces, where you can take another bus to Fontao. If you come by car, you must get to Vila de Cruces or Silleda and from there go to Merza and then Fontao.
- What is included?
- The house has a large garden in addition to the common areas such as living room, kitchen, dining room, hall, laundry. Each room has its own bathroom. Local Guide (Biologist/Photogreapher) and workshops of garden, nature and photogeraphy.
- Why did you decide to open?
- I decided to restore the family house and brand it as Coliving because I am in love with the natural environment that surrounds the house. A perfect space for travelers, a different tourism where you can learn and share in community.
- How do you manage the community?
- I live in the house and I am in charge of its care and cleaning, inside as well as in the garden. On a day-to-day basis I am available to guests and answer their questions. I also carry out different activities such as photography workshops, gardening and guided tours.
