Hidden in a peaceful valley in the south of Portugal, Satvana is a conscious co-living space for people seeking a slower, more meaningful way of living. More than just accommodation, Satvana is a space to reconnect — with yourself, nature, and a like-minded community.
We welcome remote workers, creatives, and conscious travelers who value authenticity, simplicity, and inner growth. Life at Satvana is rooted in presence: shared meals, silence, creativity, nature, and genuine human connection.
Our off-grid sanctuary invites guests to step out of the noise of everyday life and into a more intentional rhythm, where community and personal transformation can unfold naturally.
About the owners
Satvana was created by Gerhard & Michelle from a shared vision of creating a place where people can live and work together intentionally — through meaningful connections, shared dinners, inspiring conversations, and living in harmony with nature.
Today, Satvana is a space where people can slow down, reconnect, simply be, while also focusing on their personal projects or digital work.
Together, Gerhard & Michelle are there to make your stay feel like a home away from home — shaped by beautiful shared moments and genuine connection.

Frequently asked questions about Satvana Conscious Co-living & Retreats
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Just ask for it
How do I do groceries?
Included in the price of your accommodation is a food package, which means you’ll have a fully stocked fridge with fresh ingredients, as well as a pantry filled with dry goods.
You’re welcome to prepare your own meals whenever you like, but food is also an important part of our community. Shared meals happen on a daily basis, giving everyone the opportunity to cook, eat, and connect together.
If you prefer doing groceries for yourself the nearest town and supermarkets are about 30 minutes away, so we highly recommend having a car during your stay if you would like to do your own groceries.
What are the coworking opening hours?
There are no official coworking opening hours at Satvana. Guests can work from their rooms at any time, and the shared group/work space is accessible 24/7 — allowing everyone to find their own rhythm between work, rest, and community life.
What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
We warmly welcome well-behaved pets at Satvana. As we also have 3 cats and a puppy living on the property, it’s important that visiting pets are friendly and comfortable around other animals.
How do I get there?
Satvana is located in the peaceful countryside of southern Portugal, about 1.5 hours north of Faro and around 2 hours south of Lisbon.
The closest train station is Funcheira, which is only a 15-minute drive from Satvana. From there, we can help arrange a pickup with trusted local taxi drivers we work together with.
As we are quite remotely located, we generally recommend coming by car for the most flexibility during your stay.
What is included?
A daily morning group activity as the focus of the day, gentle practices such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, grounding exercises, or a morning hike.
A full pantry stocked with vegetarian food is included so you can prepare breakfast (and other meals) at your own pace. We often cook dinner together in the evenings.
You’ll also have access to the garden and swimming pool, shared work space, communal dining area, and a multifunctional room for massages, coaching, or private calls.
Everything supports a balanced rhythm of work, rest, connection, and well-being.
Why did you decide to open?
In today’s fast-paced and increasingly digital world, we’ve noticed a growing longing for a different way of living — one that is slower, more intentional, and rooted in real human connection.
We created Satvana to respond to this need: a place where people can pause, breathe, and step out of constant busyness. A space where rest, peace, creativity, and joy are just as important as productivity.
At Satvana, we offer the opportunity to live and work in community — to share meals, conversations, laughter, and everyday moments with others, while also having space for personal focus and growth. Surrounded by nature, life naturally becomes simpler, more grounded, and more meaningful.
It’s our intention to create a temporary home where people can reconnect — with themselves, with others, and with a more conscious way of living.
How do you manage the community?
Satvana is mainly hosted by us, Gerhard and Michelle, who are present and care for the daily flow of the community.
We also welcome volunteers to join and support the space, and we love collaborating with local facilitators who offer activities like yoga, workshops, and other experiences.
This mix keeps the community open, dynamic, and connected.
