About the owners
Bela Vista has been in the family since 1942. Today, it’s home to Sara and her mum, Margarida, who live on-site and run the coliving together. After years in London organising events, Sara returned to the Algarve to share the place she loves most. Margarida, a natural cook, often delights guests with homemade meals. Their warmth and hospitality give Bela Vista its truly personal and welcoming feel.
Bela Vista attracts kind, down-to-earth people — from remote workers and creatives to nature lovers and wellness seekers. - How do I do groceries?
- We’re just a short drive from Olhão and Fuseta, where you’ll find supermarkets, small shops, and the famous Olhão Market — one of the best in Portugal for fresh produce, fish, and regional specialities. We also grow some of our own fruit and veggies, and you're welcome to pick from the garden when in season!
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- The coworking space is open 24/7 for guests. With faster internet, plenty of natural light, and sea views, it's a calm and inspiring place to get things done at your own rhythm.
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- We love animals — we have two cats and a friendly dog ourselves! Well-behaved pets are welcome on request. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure it’s a good fit. There’s no extra fee, but we ask that pets are kept under control and don’t disturb other guests.
- How do I get there?
- Bela Vista is located between Olhão and Fuseta in the East Algarve. The nearest airport is Faro, about 25 minutes by car. You can get here easily by taxi, rental car, or train — both Olhão and Fuseta have train stations just a few minutes away. There are also regular trains and long-distance coaches from Lisbon and Porto, and coaches from Seville, with stops in nearby towns. In addition, local buses from Faro, Olhão, Tavira, and beyond stop just a 5-minute walk from the house. We’re happy to help with directions, suggest the best route, or organise a local transfer if needed.
- What is included?
- Your stay includes access to the coworking space, gym, pool, fast Wi-Fi, all common areas, and the garden. We offer a free trip to the supermarket when you arrive (or shortly after), and we’re happy to help you plan local activities like kayaking, kitesurfing, or boat trips. Cleaning is provided every 1–2 weeks, and we supply linens and towels. You’ll also find essentials like washing-up liquid, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and laundry detergent — all included to make your stay easier. And every now and then, you might be lucky enough to enjoy a homemade cake from my mum, Margarida.
- Why did you decide to open?
- After over a decade organising events in London, I came back to the Algarve to reconnect with my roots and the place that has always felt like home. Bela Vista has been in my family since 1942, and in 2019 I bought it from my uncle — now co-owning it with my mum, Margarida. In 2020, we began hosting digital nomads, and quickly realised how important a sense of community was. Once I discovered the concept of coliving, I decided to rebrand and offer more shared activities. Turning Bela Vista into a coliving space felt like the perfect way to share this special place with others who value connection, calm, and a slower pace of life — all in a setting close to nature.
- How do you manage the community?
- We live on-site and naturally hold space for connection without forcing anything. Community here flows organically — through shared dinners, beach walks, spontaneous conversations, or even quiet co-working days together. We’re always here if you need support or recommendations, but we also respect everyone’s need for space. It’s about balance: making people feel at home, while letting the magic of the group unfold on its own.
