Welcome to La Cocotera, a cozy coliving space designed for remote workers, creatives, and adventurous souls who want to feel at home while staying connected to a global community.
Located in the heart of Tarifa, just a few minutes from the beach and surrounded by charming cafés and surf vibes, La Cocotera offers a warm and personal atmosphere where work and life flow naturally. Our beautifully renovated Andalusian house features a rooftop terrace with views to Africa, shared kitchen, common areas to relax, and a fully equipped coworking space on-site.
We host a mix of digital nomads, freelancers, and entrepreneurs from all over the world, creating the perfect environment to exchange ideas, collaborate, and make lifelong connections.
Whether you’re staying for a few days or a few months, you’ll find everything you need: fast Wi-Fi, comfortable rooms, inspiring spaces, and a welcoming community.
About the owners
La Cocotera was created by Marina and Verónica, two women with different roots but a shared dream: to build a space where people from around the world could feel at home, find inspiration, and connect with others.
Marina, originally from Seville, came to Tarifa over a decade ago and fell in love with its energy and lifestyle. She brings her entrepreneurial spirit and community-building experience to the project.
Verónica is a true local from Tarifa who loves to share the beauty and hidden corners of her hometown with travelers.

- What are the coworking opening hours?
- It´s always open :)
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- The maximum stay for all pets is 1 week. Pets are only allowed in private rooms. Cost of stay 10€ week. Dogs must be on a lead at all times, ensuring that they do not negatively affect the communal living of other pets and guests. Pets are not allower in the following areas: kitchen, dinning room, bathrooms. The pet must not be left alone in the room. The owner must always clean up after the pet.

- By Car If you're driving, set your GPS to: La Cocotera Boutique Hostel & Coworking Calle San Rosendo, 12, 11380 Tarifa, Cádiz, Spain Tarifa is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from Cádiz and about 2 hours from Málaga. Please note that parking in Tarifa's old town can be limited. There is a public parking at Calzadilla de Tellez, very close to La Cocotera. By Bus Tarifa is well-connected by bus services from major cities: From Cádiz: Buses run regularly and take about 2 hours. From Málaga: The journey takes approximately 3 hours. From Algeciras: A short 30-minute ride. Once you arrive at the Tarifa bus station, La Cocotera is a short 10-minute walk through the charming streets of the old town On Foot If you're already in Tarifa, reaching La Cocotera is straightforward: From Plaza de Santa María: Head south on Calle San Rosendo for about 200 meters. From Castle de Guzman El Bueno: Walk east on Calle Guzmán el Bueno, then turn right onto Calle San Rosendo. The coliving is located at number 12

- Why did you decide to open?
- We opened La Cocotera because we wanted to create the kind of place we ourselves were searching for: a space that felt like home, where people could live, work, and connect in an authentic way. Back in 2014, the concept of digital nomadism and coworking was still new in Spain. But we saw the potential: Tarifa had the perfect blend of nature, energy, and inspiration. We imagined a place where people from all over the world could slow down, share stories, and build community, not just pass through. La Cocotera grew from that vision. More than a hostel or a coworking space, we see it as a living project shaped by the people who stay, the conversations that happen on the terrace, and the magic of Tarifa itself.
- How do you manage the community?
- We create the conditions for people to connect naturally. We give space for everyone to be themselves, while also setting the tone for respect, collaboration, and care. We’re always around not just as hosts, but as part of the community too. We listen, we introduce people to each other, we encourage co-creation. Sometimes that means organizing events, and sometimes it’s as simple as making sure someone new doesn’t eat lunch alone on their first day. Over the years, we’ve learned that the strongest communities grow from real human connections, not fixed schedules or rules. So we focus more on presence and intention than structure and that seems to be what people remember most.
