Madeira Remote is a coliving experience by Madeira Friends, founded by Luis and Marelin in 2020. After years of welcoming thousands of remote workers and hosting countless community events, they created a warm and supportive space where guests can feel at home, connect with others, and enjoy the best of living in Madeira.

- How do I do groceries?
- A local market is less than 2 minutes away on foot, and Plaza Shopping Mall is around 10 minutes away.
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- Guests also have access to a coworking space that is open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- To ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment for all guests, pets are not allowed due to allergy considerations. This helps us maintain a clean and shared space where everyone can feel at ease throughout their stay.
- How do I get there?
- Getting here is easy. The property is located in São Pedro, Funchal, at Calçada do Pico 42, about 20–25 minutes by car from Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport (FNC). Guests can arrive by taxi, ride-hailing app, or rental car. From the airport, simply follow the VR1 toward Funchal and continue to the São Pedro area. The home is also well connected to central Funchal, where guests can find bus links, shops, and other services. Please note that Madeira does not have a train network.
- What is included?
- Your stay includes a furnished room, fast Wi-Fi, and access to all shared spaces in the house, including 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, a dining area, an office/reading space, laundry facilities, the backyard with jacuzzi, and the rooftop with ocean and city views. Guests also have access to a dedicated desk with monitor, a coworking space, community events and workshops, and a discount card with 50+ local partners.
- Why did you decide to open?
- We decided to open this coliving space to create more than just accommodation. After years of building an international community, welcoming thousands of remote workers, and hosting hundreds of events, we saw the need for a place that combines comfort, productivity, and genuine human connection. Our goal was to create a home where people can feel welcome from day one, enjoy their privacy, stay productive, and also become part of a supportive community while experiencing life in Madeira.
- How do you manage the community?
- We manage the experience through two key roles: a community manager and a property manager. The community manager helps guests feel welcome and connected to the digital nomad community through events and introductions, while the property manager is there to support the stay itself and make sure everything at the house is comfortable and well managed.
