About BOND Coliving
Bond is what happens when you stop accepting that nomad life has to be chaotic. We're a small building in central Funchal with just 5-10 residents at any time. Everyone has their own private apartment - proper kitchen, bathroom, the works - plus access to our coworking space downstairs when you need a change of scenery.
The internet actually works (we've tested it extensively during back-to-back video calls), someone else handles your laundry and cleaning, and you're a few minutes' walk from the ocean, decent coffee, and everything else you need.
Madeira's become a bit of a nomad magnet lately, and for good reason, the weather's brilliant year-round and there's actual stuff to do when you're not working.
We're pet-friendly because some of the best remote workers have four legs, and everything's a transparent price per month with no hidden costs or surprise bills.

After years apart, father and son duo Steve and Rui finally found their bond in Madeira. Steve's remote tech work brought him home, but it was their rekindled connection that inspired BOND - a space where ambitious professionals can discover their own perfect blend of meaningful work and island living.
What started as a personal journey became a vision: creating a place where others could find their own balance between independence and community, work and life, ambition and peace.

- How do I do groceries?
- You're spoilt for choice! There's a Pingo Doce (major supermarket) about 2 minutes walk away, plus several smaller local markets and shops within 5 minutes. The city center has everything from fresh produce markets to convenience stores, so you can shop however suits you - big weekly shops or picking up bits as you need them.
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- The coworking space is available 24/7 for residents. Whether you're an early bird, night owl, or dealing with clients in different time zones, you've got access whenever you need it.
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- We welcome small pets! Just let us know during your application so we can make sure everything's sorted. No additional fees, but we do ask that you're considerate of other residents and keep common areas clean. If you're unsure whether your furry friend qualifies as "small," just ask - we're pretty reasonable about it.
- How do I get there?
- Fly into Madeira Airport (FNC), then it's about a 20-minute taxi or bus ride to central Funchal. We'll send you detailed directions once you're confirmed, including the door codes and exactly where to find us. The building is easy to spot and we're always available by message if you get turned around.
- What is included?
- Everything you need to just arrive and start living - your private apartment with kitchen and bathroom, enterprise-grade WiFi, all utilities, bi-weekly cleaning, "done for you" laundry service, access to the coworking space, and community events. No surprise bills or hidden costs.
- Why did you decide to open?
- As someone who works remotely myself, I kept seeing the same problem - Funchal is packed with expensive Airbnbs that aren't designed for actual remote work, and there wasn't a reasonable alternative for people who needed to stay longer than a holiday. We wanted to create a space where other ambitious professionals could discover that same balance without all the usual nomad hassles or paying tourist prices for subpar setups.
- How do you manage the community?
- We keep things small (5-10 residents max) and have a simple application process to make sure everyone's a good fit. It's not about rules and regulations - it's about bringing together like-minded professionals who respect each other's space and work while being open to genuine connections. We're around if needed but trust people to be adults.
