You're looking for a design yet warm place, 5-min from the sea, where you'll be able to focus on your projects, eat a delicious homemade brunch every Sunday, while enjoying a beautiful and historical region with like-minded people? Welcome to Les Briques!
More than a coliving, we're four spaces at the same place: a coliving, a coworking, a tearoom and a wood lab! The tearoom opens 5 days a week and offers lunch, cakes, brunchs, everything being homemade with local and organic products. The wood studio offers lessons and internships: stay at us and learn new skills!
Les Briques is located in Lion-sur-Mer, in Normandy, France, a sea-town: the house is 5-min walking away from the sea. Work in the morning, beach at lunch! This small city has everything you need, from a big supermarket to hairdresser through nice restaurants.
The house is an old farm than we fully renovated. We focused on design, atmosphere, quality of the spaces, and sustainability. The result is a gorgeous space, with a lot of wood and raw materials, high-end amenities, fireplaces and a large garden covered by Wi-Fi.
Community is super important to us, we really took inspiration from CloudCitadel or Sun&Co: we have weekly family meetings to plan the week ahead, family diners, family movie nights, skillshares lunch, organised by our community manager. Our coworking is also opened to coworkers from outside, from Monday to Saturday, enlarging the community.
We can't wait to have you there this summer!
About the owners
Jean & Katia founded, built and run the place, with the place of a volunteer (we're looking for one, write us!). Jean is our carpenter, he built most of the furnitures inside, and provides woodworking lessons. Katia runs the tearoom: each Sunday she cooks a delicious brunch. Having grow up in the area, they know Normandy very well and are always happy to help new colivers discover our beautiful region!

I fell for Les Briques the minute I stepped into the house, and the whole experience lived up to the good impression I had. Both the coliving and the coworking space are warm and well-equipped, the hosts are friendly, and I could share lively discussions, family dinners, and many activities with a small but vibrant community. I highly recommend this place, and I already look forward to my next stay.

- How do I do groceries?
- There is a Carrefour Market just 5-min walking from us, opened from Monday to Sunday, and having everything you need: organic vegetables, drinks, local meat… Next to it you'll also find a bakery. There is also a market and a night market weekly in summer. And in the next cities (15 min by bicycle) you can get fresh fish or sea food, more bakeries options, huge supermarkets…
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- The coworking is opened 24/7 for colivers: feel free to work whenever you want!
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- Currently, because of allergies, we can't accept pets, we're sorry about that.
- How do I get there?
- There are multiple ways to reach Les Briques: - by car of course, there is a large free parking 1-min walk from us - by train to Caen SNCF Station, and then you can take a direct city bus (12 or 22) that will drop you just in front of the house (one bus in average per hour, every day of the week, 50 min trip, 1€60, use Google Maps, they have the schedules and bus stops locations), or you can bike if you have a bicycle, or you can always order an Uber (20-30€) - by boat from the UK! We're 5 km from Ouistreham, connected 3 times a day to Portsmouth. Then we can give you a ride, or you can also take the bus.
- What is included?
- Bed sheets, fresh towels every week. Deep professional cleaning. Free tea and organic coffee. Basic kitchen products: oils, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar… Access to a washing machine and free detergent. You also get 10% on all the tearoom (we have a great local beer on tap) and 10% on our wood lessons, two Saturdays peer month.
- Why did you decide to open?
- We wanted to offer a unique design space for colivers in need of focus or relax. When we found this old farm 500m from the beach, it seemed like the perfect place for a coliving, in the beautiful French Normandy!
- How do you manage the community?
- Each Monday with the help of our volunteer, we organise a family meeting: it helps everyone meet each other, and plan the week ahead! Usually on Saturday we have a family diner where we cook together in our large kitchen & living-room. And at least once per week we organise a skillshare lunch where someone share something they know with the community. On top of that we use Slack to communicate digitally inside the house.
