Back in 2018 (the 1st time we stayed at Nine), I did not expected Tenerife to be such an incredible playground for the hiking lovers that we are with @fabienneluisier. I somehow had this wrong idea that Tenerife was mostly the beach and resorts you can find in the south of the island + the Teide national park. But ohh boy I was wrong!
In total we spent maybe around 6 months on the island (we stayed at Nine twice) and we could truly enjoy the diversity this island has to offer while hiking. Here are some of our favorite places to hike on this magical island:
The Teide National Park: @reymon359 already shared his experience about climbing on top of Teide for the sunrise, but there are many more hikes you can do like hiking on top of the Guajara mountain, Montana Samara for the sunset or checkout the views of the Teide from the Corona forestal. If you want, you'll find details about all these hikes here.
The Anaga natural park: The northeast tip of the island is truly an incredible place with magical forests and landscapes... If you stay at Nine there is NO WAY you don't spend at least one day hiking in Anaga. Once we even took our tent and did a 4 days hike around this park and really was a memorable experience.
The area around Masca: There are may windy road on the island but the road to Masca has the No1 spot ;) . But it's well worth a visit and a super cool place to hike... there are trails above the valley but also down towards Punta de Teno
La Ruta del Agua in la Caldera: one of our favorite a short drive above the coliving. Nice hike in the forest with beautiful views of the Teide.
Coastal hike to mirador de San Pedro: Easy hike on the coast where you can discover the abandoned Gordejuela water elevator.
If you want to have some more details about these hikes we did (and others), you can check out this post where you can find all the details and GPX tracks.
