It was actually supposed to end in May… but I decided to extend it. How cool is that?
Here's what happened :
Since April, we've been running a second Folks apartment — an ephemeral space on Plaza España, five minutes from our main residence in Valencia. We opened it as a temporary experiment for remote workers and digital nomads seeking an alternative to hotels, hostels, and soulless Airbnbs.
Four people moved in. Within days, the apartment had taken on a life of its own. Morning espressos stretched into long conversations about side projects. Work sessions gave way to sunset paddle sessions on the Mediterranean. Someone cooked for everyone simply because, well, why not?
The kind of thing you can't manufacture: it either happens or it doesn't.
It happened. Fully and without warning.
So we made a decision:
we're extending the pop-up through the end of June.
One last room. One exceptional opportunity. For whoever is ready to land in Valencia and truly live it.
"The best places to work aren't offices. They're places where you feel genuinely at home and where the people around you quietly make you better."
What does a day at Folks actually look like?
Let's be honest. Most coliving spaces sell you the dream but hand you a coworking space with bunk beds. Folks is built differently and this pop-up carries that same DNA. Here's what a real day looks like.
08:30 — Morning coffee, no alarm required The apartment smells of espresso. Someone is already at their laptop. You pour yourself a cup, settle by the window overlooking Plaza España, and ease into the day without any particular rush.
09:30 — Deep work hours High-speed WiFi, a dedicated desk, and the quiet hum of people who understand and respect focused time. The atmosphere is productive without being corporate. You actually get things done here.
13:00 — Lunch break, Valencian style El Mercado Central is ten minutes away. You pick up something fresh, eat with whoever happens to be around. Conversation drifts between work, travel, future plans, and the best beach spots nobody's heard of yet.
17:00 — Paddle or surf at La Malvarrosa The Mediterranean is twenty minutes away. Someone suggests a paddle session. Within ten minutes, you're all in. The water is warm. The light is golden. You lose track of what day it is in the very best way.
20:00 — Community dinner or outdoor cinema Some evenings it's a family-style dinner cooked together. Others it's an open-air film screening in the park. Every evening, something happens. Nobody eats alone.
22:30 — A terrace somewhere in Ruzafa Valencia's finest neighbourhood is a fifteen-minute walk away. The terraces stay open late. The horchata is cold. The conversation is good. You catch yourself thinking: I could stay here for a while.
Activities that genuinely bring people together
This isn't about forced team-building exercises. These are the moments that arise naturally when the right people find themselves in the right place.
🏄 Surf sessions — Mediterranean waves, beginner to intermediate. Group sessions organised at nearby spots.
🏝️ Paddleboarding — Sunset paddles on the Med. The kind of evening you'll still be talking about years from now.
🎬 Outdoor cinema nights — Open-air screenings in Valencia's parks and squares. Blankets, snacks, and good company.
🥘 Paella & horchata nights — We go straight to the source. Real Valencian paella, real horchata de chufa. A weekly ritual, without exception.
🌿 Weekend trips to Albufera — The nature reserve just south of Valencia. Boat rides through the lagoon at golden hour.
🗣️ Language exchanges — English, Spanish, French — the house is international. Relaxed, genuinely fun, and surprisingly useful.
Why Valencia and not Barcelona or Madrid?
The question comes up constantly. And the honest answer is this: Valencia in June delivers everything those cities promise to be without the inflated prices or the crowds.
The weather hits a perfect sweet spot: warm enough to live outdoors, not yet the relentless heat of August. Terraces are in full swing. Evenings stretch out long and golden across the city. You'll find yourself ending every day outside, without ever having planned to.
The cost of living is genuinely, meaningfully different. What you'd burn through on a modest flat in Barceloneta goes considerably further here. You eat better. You live better. You carry less stress.
And the city itself the architecture of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the glorious chaos and colour of El Carmen, the quiet grace of the Turia gardens threading through the heart of it all rewards those who slow down enough to actually look. Most tourists don't. You will.
Valencia in June is genuinely hard to beat. We say this without a shadow of a doubt.
