From Hesitant Newcomer to Confident Ambassador: How Mapmelon Transformed My Journey
Before I found Mapmelon, I was a fairly new traveller, just beginning to find my feet in the digital nomad world. Like others new to digital nomad life, I spent (probably WAY too much) time scrolling through Instagram, dreaming of places I wanted to go but hesitating on taking action.
In a world newly opened up... every where is an option.
There was one spot in particular that truly captured my imagination that I could not simply scroll by: Wonder House Coliving in Spain.
Their unique and whimsical imagery spoke to me, and for over a week, I felt a deep motivation to reach out. Yet, as a newcomer, I let the hesitation choke up every email I attempted to write... that initial leap can feel so daunting.
"hi. yes. please adopt me for a month!"
Just when I felt like I needed it most, an opportunity came gently knocking knuckles on my barely cracked open door.
As a new Mapmelon Ambassador, I received an email about a collaboration opportunity with that very same coliving. The timing was nothing short of perfect.
Suddenly, I wasn't just a solo traveller nervously sending a cold email; I was a Mapmelon Ambassador, armed with the confidence and momentum to take that brave leap.
What began as a two-week opportunity blossomed into an almost two-month stay that became a pivotal moment for me, both personally and professionally. It was my first-ever volunteer experience at a coliving, and it far exceeded my expectations.
I had the immense pleasure of working with the wonderful owners of Wonder House: Fidel, Anya, and Aleix. Their gentle and enthusiastic spirits created an incredible environment to learn in.
Shifting from being a coliver to a volunteer was a profound experience. I was granted a behind-the-scenes look at the vital backend of a coliving business, and I witnessed firsthand the immense hard work, self-sacrifice, and genuine love that goes into creating these communal spaces for our nomadic community.
This journey allowed me to grow tremendously in my business and marketing skills, and most importantly... as a human being exploring what it means to live and stand in your authenticity.
I believe what makes the Mapmelon Ambassador experience so unique is their commitment to making the collaboration fun, easy, and interactive.
With the criteria to participate being a natural cohesion with actions many travelers would already be doing, for example sharing photos on the gram and real stories with the forum about your experience to better help the collective.
Even this Mapmelon Forum acts as an OPEN space where ANYONE can share their experiences. That openness allows for intimate, raw, and REAL storytelling as well as authentic promotions posted directly from hosts around the world. This is a space that truly differentiates itself from other closed and curated travel communities.
I'm quite proud to be an Ambassador and have been sharing my positive experience at every coliving I've visited since.
