About Alpiness coliving
Our mission at Alpiness is obviously to offer a home, community and perfect work environment to remote workers… but also share our passion for the mountains and all the beautiful activities they have to offer all year round.
We also believe rural coliving spaces can contribute bridging the gap between rural and urban, offering colivers a different way of life, more connected to nature and the local community. We want to create a dynamic community, give back to our valley and bring more people back to the mountains!
About the owners
Hi!
We are Fabienne and Ben, the couple behind Alpiness coliving. 🙂
In our late thirties, we spent the last 10 years of our lives traveling in Europe and working remotely. We met back in 2008 when we were still students. After working in the corporate and academic world for a bit, we decided to leave for a 19 month round-the-world trip (2013-2015). Coming back from this crazy adventure, we settled in Zurich and started working for a tech company. But after only 18 months, we decided to quit our comfortable positions to live a more flexible lifestyle. During all those years, we’ve worked remotely on several blogs (Novo-Monde and Novo-Media), written books for a swiss publishing house as well as self-published digital hiking guides (See our books here).
In 2018 we traveled to Tenerife for a few months and that’s where we came across a coliving for the first time. We were supposed to stay 1 month at Nine coliving… but ended up staying 5! Since then, we fell in love with this concept and spent almost 50% of our time in coliving spaces. We’ve been especially inspired by small, community focused, rural spaces like Nine, Cloud or Anceu coliving. We love the vibe, the people we met, how productive we’ve been in those places… We also discovered some colivings were really active in their respective community, trying to have a positive local impact.
So after all these experiences, we decided to create such a space in a place very dear to our hearts: the swiss alps, our “home”.

I was lucky enough to enjoy my first stay at Alpiness Coliving even before the opening and to finally meet in-person Fabienne and Ben, the 2 founders, owners, hosts and first and foremost great persons. And also to share a month with the colivers and make new friends!
🏠 The house is awesome, super well equipped, with everything you need to live, sleep well, make the best coffee ever, cook and eat by yourself or most likely all together with the community, get your work done, play, watch movies, etc.
🏔️ With amazing mountains and glaciers all around, the beautiful village is small but has everything you need for your day-to-day life on walking distance. Plus buses to go down the valley or further up if you don't have time or energy for a longer hike.
✅ To summarize, I'd say it's one of my favorite colivings. It's a place to (re)connect: with a curated community of location independent workers, with the local people and culture, with fondue and raclette and cheese on its simplest form as well, with the amazing nature around... and even with yourself!
I've found another home away from home, and a new extended family.
I'll definitely be back soon! It's so easy to reach even by train+bus. 💚

Spent here a summer month with other nomads renovating the place and getting it ready for the opening.
You can see that Fabienne and Ben have been in several colivings around Europe because they are adding the best of each to this one. Weekly planning, family dinners, a proper coworking, etc.
I feel really lucky for the people I was there with and the activities we did (hikes, climbing, dancing, movies, games, etc).
The views from almost every corner of the house are amazing btw

Fabienne and Ben are amazing, lovely hosts that really care about the community and the space!
We enjoyed every second there. We had daily family dinners or activities (hikes, climbing, salsa, Irish dance, AI skillshare, movies, board games, etc). Every day something new!
The place is amazing, astonishing views from almost every corner of the house.
The coworking is big and has beautiful lighting, making it the best part of the house IMO. It can be a bit noisy in the middle of the day (because it is close to the kitchen) but you also have a desk in your room and a call room to have more focus.

- How do I do groceries?
- No worries, there are plenty of options. In Les Haudères there is a bakery, a butcher as well as the “laiterie”, a place where you can buy cheese and various dairy directly from the producers (We don’t want to brag, but if you’re a cheese lover, I’d like to point out that the Haudères Cheese won the title of the best Raclette cheese in 2022… And it’s made 80 meters away from the coliving! Ok… we might be bragging a bit, but believe us it’s the best cheese in the world! 😉 ) Additionally, there is also a small “Denner” 1 minute away (on foot). It’s a small supermarket which has (almost) everything one needs. For more specific products, there is a bigger “Coop-Supermarket” in Evolène 3 km away (there is a bus leaving in front of the coliving that runs directly to the supermarket in 5 minutes).
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- At Alpiness, you can work from anywhere: your room, one of the 2 coworking spaces, the living room, the dining room or the terrace. However, both coworking spaces are silent and separated from the other spaces, which means there will always be 2 rooms that are dedicated to productive time 24/7.
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- Yes, Alpiness is a dog-friendly space (up to 3 dogs). We have our own “house-dog” named Winchy. Being in the middle of nature, the space is ideal to go on long walks with a dog. In order to ensure a certain balance between the number of dogs and humans we’ve decided to limit the number of dogs staying simultaneously at the coliving to 2 (making it 3 with our dog). If you wish to bring your dog, please get in touch before booking. Dogs stay for free. Dogs are allowed in your room (not on the bed), in the living room, terrace, as well as in the main coworking. Only the kitchen as well as one of the workspaces are so called “dog-free” areas. Dog beds, water bowls are provided in several spots around the house.
- How do I get there?
- By public transportation: From Geneva Airport: A direct train runs from the Airport to Sion (from Zurich Airport you have one change in Visp). From Sion: Catch a typical swiss postal bus from the Sion train station. The bus stop “Les Haudères Centre” is in front of our door. By Car : it’s about 35 minutes from Sion. Free parking available
- What is included?

- Why did you decide to open?
- 1st we simply love the coliving way of life, being surrounded by like minded people, sharing life together. Before opening, we have been living in coliving spaces for a long time and we just wanted to create our own space in the mountains. But on the longer term, we also want to have a positive local impact in our small village, help create some dynamism, getting involved in local project. Let's see where this goes but it's one of our main motivation as well.
- How do you manage the community?
- We are proud to be a community focused coliving space and community is at the heart of everything we do. We have weekly family meeting, we do family dinners from monday to friday and we do a lot of activities together.
