Karibu to AfricaNomads!
We are a bunch of freedom seekers always ready to work hard but play harder. We decided to create a community of Digital Nomads in Africa that can slowly work together and get en route towards Southern Africa! Lamu is our home and where most of our colivings are, we are in a very off-the-beaten-path destination that is super welcoming and ever mesmerizing. Get ready to step back in time, as you wonder for the amazing maze-like streets of Lamu town.
Ourselves are: Steve, Alejandra, Pepe, Felipe and Bongo and we do love meeting new people and show them around this little island we call home.
About the owners
We are Alejandra and Steve, co-founders at AfricaNomads and in love with what we do. Ex-tourism professionals, we were also craving the Nomad life and so decided to change our field. Here we found community, a family we are growing little by little, we are in the right place and we are eager to see our family coming along!

- How do I do groceries?
- We do have veggies and fruits right next door to the house and for the main groceries we have a supermarket that is just a 5 min walk from the house
- What are the coworking opening hours?
- Within the house - 24hrs!
- What is the policy on pets? Are there any restrictions, fees or rules?
- We do welcome furry friends. Bongo is a key member of our team and he loves having others to play with too!
- How do I get there?
- There are 5 daily flights into Lamu Island from Nairobi or Mombasa Int Airport
- What is included?
- Accommodation in our AfricaNomads selected homes, housekeeping, back-up batteries & SIM Cards loaded with data to work on the go, weekly communal dinner, water, tea & coffee in the house, local hosts
- Why did you decide to open?
- We do love our community and love spending time with everyone. Lamu is a very small town and so we normally meet daily if not at breakfast, we do so during the day somewhere in the town or to catch the sunset with a drink! During the weekend we love proposing activities that are a mix of going to visit the various beautiful parts of the Archipelago and some of the most remarkable projects in the island helping the community at grassroot levels. Steve and (I) Alejandra both have hospitality backgrounds so we do what we know best and are there before, during and after your trip to give you guidance no only in matters Lamu Island but in matters Africa! Steve is Kenyan himself and I have been in the continent for 14 years, living and visiting the different areas. Bongo is probably the most important one in the team, our 4 legged baby who is always ready to cuddle and ready to go sailing! We would love to in future be able to have a route going down towards Southern Africa with various colivings to visit along the route! We are believers that Africa will be the next emerging continent for digital nomads, there is so much to discover and we want to really make it possible!
- How do you manage the community?
- We love being able to connect with like-minded people and show them our beautiful island! All began in 2022 and we have since been able to host some amazing beautiful souls in Lamu Island and the Kenyan Coast!
